Join the Gifford Youth Achievement Center’s (GYAC) Freddie Woolfork, Teddy Floyd, and Deputy Cliff Labbe of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office as they canvass the community to collect funds to purchase turkeys for families who otherwise would not have a turkey for Thanksgiving.

“Your donations are greatly appreciated and will allow us the joyous opportunity to once again distribute 500 turkeys,” remarked Woolfork, GYAC’s Director of Public Relations and Facilities Operations. Checks can be made payable to the Gifford Youth Achievement Center, with “Turkey Drive” designated in the memo section.

Due to the pandemic, health and safety guidelines are being strictly followed. All recipients must wear a face mask, and pre-registration is required.

Voucher registration will take place in front of GYAC on Mondays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., starting October 25th through November 8th. “Please have a copy of your light bill or some other proof of your Indian River County residency at the time of registration,” requests Woolfork.

Turkeys will be distributed Monday, November 15th at 5:00 p.m. at the Gifford Park pavilion, located within the Victor Hart, Sr. Community Enhancement Complex. To receive a turkey, you must have with you the pre-issued voucher. One turkey per household, please.

Says Woolfork, “Thank you in advance for your giving and for having such a gracious heart of compassion to help others.”
